Patient Manual Handling

Course Duration: Half Day

This course is designed for healthcare and frontline workers who need training in safely handling and moving patients in correspondence with the Safety, Health and welfare at Work

2005 and Manual Handling Regulations 1993 & 2007. We offer both courses independently and refresher courses.

Courses will include:

 Application of correct manual handling and the laws

 Musculoskeletal System

 Biomechanics and Mechanism of Injury

 Flexibility

 Ergonomics and Risk Assessment

 Basic Principles of Lifting

 Log Roll

 Standing a patient

 Turning patient in bed using sliding sheets

 Moving patient up the bed using sliding sheets

 Sitting Patient to edge of a bed

 Sitting a patient up in bed

 Transferring patient from bed to chair

 Correct use of hoist / slings

Certification:

Certification is provided by Hart EMS on successful completion of the course and will be valid for 2 years.
